Our Story
New. Renewed. Restored.
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
— Isaiah 43:19
How We Met
Damon and Art's journey began in the most modern of ways — through BandMix, an online platform connecting musicians. What started as a simple search for collaboration turned into something far more meaningful.
Both men were actively involved in Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program, and immediately recognized a shared calling beyond just making music together. When they began jamming, the chemistry was undeniable — not just musically, but spiritually.
Choosing the Duo Path
After exploring different musical directions, Damon and Art made a deliberate choice: they would perform as a duo. This wasn't about convenience or simplicity — it was about focus. Stripping down to acoustic instruments and two voices created an intimate, authentic space where their message of hope and healing could resonate clearly.
The duo format allowed them to bring worship and testimony into recovery settings, community gatherings, and anywhere people needed to hear that restoration is possible.
Why Chadash
The name Chadash (חדש) — meaning "new," "renewed," and "restored" in Hebrew — captures the heart of their mission. It's not just about starting fresh, but about being made new again. Refined. Restored to purpose.
This Hebrew word carries the weight of God's promise to renew and restore what was broken. For Damon and Art, it's a daily reminder of the transformation they've experienced and the message they carry to others still walking through their own recovery journey.
